WhatsApp is a cross-platform Smartphone app that lets you send text and picture messages for free, using your data allowance. It has sky-rocketed in sales and users after Mark Zuckerberg bought the enterprise. Still, no one has ever set a finger on the exact amount of users it has. There are many types of apps that provide these services and are available out there for free. Still, BBM (Blackberry Messenger), with 60m users, is perhaps the most generally known, but WhatsApp is one of the biggest.
This has easily, the potential to become the next big thing. It has everything; from calls to messaging to sending videos and pictures to uploading statuses. With the new status option, it has shown signs of moving over to the social media side further and moving away from the simple idea of “free calls”. You see, it won’t be long when we see the rise of whatsapp. With Facebook at its back, it shouldn’t be hard at all.
